{The K- & V-Matrix} 
The K- & V-Matrix is a simple and easy to understand method to represent configuration knowledge concerning variant products. The approach was developed in the context of the Eureka-project COMA (COnfiguration MAnagement for the Machine Industry). 

{The K- & V-Matrix system} 
To support the K- & V-Matrix method, a software tool was developed in order to use the illustrated knowledge in the sales process e.g. in a product configurator.

The K- und V-Matrix method  is mainly used during the following activities in the engineering department: 

• to represent configuration knowledge
• to analyse the variety of variant products during reassessment activities
